We have a boxer named Buddy. He is very well mannered. We have 5 and 6 year old children. He does not jump on them and when he plays in the yard with them he does not try to knock them down. He is a little over 3 years old. Buddy does what you ask him to do whether it is come here, stay, sit, he also shakes your hand. The guy that had him before us took him to take some obedience classes. We have even told him to go get a drink of water when he would be hot and he went straight to his bowl and got the drink. He also comes with his own igloo doghouse that he loves to sleep in. He has stage 1 heartworms and the neighborhood we live in it is impossible to let him have the exercise he needs. (Note: There is a low cost treatment option for heartworms, click here for details.) Our family is struggling right now and we can not afford to get him the treatment he needs for his heartworms. He looks a lot like Brutus (in the title graphic at the very top of this page). Please contact Sherry in Oneonta, Alabama at 205-625-6238 after 6pm or on her cell phone anytime at 205-237-0241, or email: smiller@otelco.net

This is Betsy the Boxer... She is 2yrs... a real love... had a broken leg between shoulder and elbow which had partially healed so it was decided to let it heal without surgery. She has a slight limp which has improved in the 9 weeks I have had her. She is very devoted and would be a wonderful addition to anyone's family provided there are no small children as she is quite playful and very boxerish with her front legs. I have done the rudiments...sit, come, and she knows her name. Please email Myra in Rutherford County, North Carolina: MyraC@rfci.net

I regretfully need to give up my boxer for adoption. I have owned Tyson (fawn male, 8.5 years old, current on shots) since he was 9 months and he has been the most loving, best dog in the world, like most boxers. We now have a young child, and he needs to be in a home without kids. He is protective of his food with other dogs once in a while, other than that he is the most affectionate dog I've ever known toward people. Please call Steve Nells in Raleigh, North Carolina at 919-792-0504.

I'm the definition of cool! I'm a calm boy who sits and shakes on command. I have an underbite that is so cute you can't help but grin. I'm very friendly to people, and my cage is surrounded on each side by cages containing puppies who I seem to be very fond of. I'm also completely housebroken. My owner is getting deployed to Iraq, so he had to surrender me. I'm current on all shots, neutered, and I don't chew on the wrong things when left inside by myself. I've always lived inside and outside... the combination suits me just fine. I'm good with kids and I get along well with dogs and yes with cats as well. Please visit Athens-Clarke County Animal Control in Athens, Georgia to place an application on this dog or call Kathy at 706-613-3540. (Mention Ledger #19885)

My name is Buster. My mom rescued me from the pound. You could tell my previous owner did not take care of me. I had holes in my muzzle and I was tested positive for heartworms. In spite of all this my mom rescued me from being destroyed. As soon as I got to my new home I was put on medicine to get rid of the heartworms. After a long and hard ordeal, I am now negative for heartworms and am on heartworm preventative. I really like the preventative and I must stay on it. I am a very well behaved dog. I can stay, lay down, shake with both paws, sit, and give high fives with both paws. I love everybody, especially men. I am about 9 years old. My family does not have small children so I am not sure how I will do around them. I love to go riding in cars. Although I am about 70 lbs, I think I am a lap dog. My mom has spoiled me so much that I sometimes forget I am a dog. I sleep on the couch and in the bed. So, it is important that my new family be able to spoil me. My new family must have a secure fenced in yard. I am able to climb chain-link fances no matter how tall and I am able to jump smaller fences so the fence might need to have an "invisible" fence added to the top of a regular fence (read about fence suggestions in our boxer care section). I need someone with a secure backyard, who will keep me on heartgard, and spoil me rotten. We live in Little Rock, Arkansas and are willing to help drive the dog somewhere for the perfect home. If you are interested or have questions please call Debbi at 501-225-0414 or Ashli at 501-952-3302 or email: ashlihale@yahoo.com

Reina is very obedient, and knows the commands of "sit", "down", "stay", "come", "kitchen", and "bed". She has the sweetest and most affectionate personality, and loves to play, go for walks, or just be still and calm. Reina adores all people, but is choosy about the dog friends that she makes. Unfortunately, I have to find a new home for her because I am relocating and cannot take her along. Please bring Reina home with you for a wonderful companion and pet! Call Natalie in Norcross, Georgia for more information at 770-939-7370 or email: nkherrod@netzero.net

A.J. is a 3-year old neutered male Pure Bred boxer. He currently lives with cats, dogs and children. He prefers men to women. He was abused in his previous home, so he does not take to scolding or an aggresive person. He is housebroken, and also enjoys spending time in a fenced yard. He is obedience trained (hand signals and verbal). Most of all he wants to be loved and to be a couch potato. Please call Erica in Winder, Georgia at 404-787-2393.

My rescue boxer, Linus, needs a good home -- without cats. He's a beautiful dog: natural ears, docked tail, fawn and white (and fully vetted). He also has a wonderful disposition: housetrained (I can give him free run of the house for up to 10 hours, and he'll neither have an accident nor chew on anything), good on the leash, extremely affectionate, protective, obedient (knows "sit," "shake" and "lay down"), low-key (for a boxer anyway), friendly towards men, women and female dogs and, though about eight pounds underweight, not at all food aggressive. His only flaw is that he cannot live with cats. I'd also be hesitant for him to go to a home with a male dog, as he seems to want to be the dominant male. He plays really well with the ladies, though. Adopting Linus will require an adoption fee to cover his vet costs. Please call Mary in Atlanta, Georgia at 404-432-6029 or email: mshalhoup@yahoo.com

Butch is a neutered 2 year old Boxer mix. He was found dragging a chain down the mean streets of Atlanta. He was skinny, cut up and very dirty. Despite his humble beginnings, Butch is a very sweet affectionate boy. He loves people, other dogs and playing. He loves going on walks and would make a good running companion. He is fully house trained too! Butch is very healthy and weighs about 65 lbs. He has all of his shots, is on HW preventative and is ready to find his forever home. If you are interested in adopting Butch, please call Victoria in Atlanta, Georgia at 404-307-3501 or email: vannalou1@hotmail.com

I have a beautiful female boxer that needs a great home with lots of love, rooom to play, and time to give. I would not have thought of giving her away if it were not for the "stress" I'm getting from the homeowner's association about her. She is an awesome dog and shows her love to her owner at all times. If you are looking for an awesome dog, this may be your lucky day. Here are some facts about her: Name: Laila; Breed: Full blooded BOXER (fawn); Born: April/2003; Activity level: Very Active; Build: short & muscular, very toned; House manners: Kennel kept during day, out in house in the evening, house broken, plays with toys, balls, etc.; Registration: I have papers to give to owner, have never been sent in; COST: assurance of good loving home. From LAILA: My name is laila, if you are hi-energy and have a yard to run and play with hills, and in need of a friend until the end, BRING ME HOME WITH YOU. I listen well, go to my room when told, and even know how to go to bed when you turn out the lights. I am the next thing to being your human best friend, so for now I'll be your K9 best friend. I bark if provoked and willnot keep up neighbors, I can be your watch dog and your companion. If you are a loving person, and want a grrrrrreat friend, then please call Dyron Morris in downtown Atlanta, Georgia at 770-873-6116.

There are two young boxers that need to be adopted immediately. The one on the left is a female, I'm not sure about the one on the right. The one on the left will be euthanized if arrangements are not made to adopt it immediately! The one on the right has a hold in case the owner reclaims it. It will be available on Monday, March 21. The boxer on the left was turned over to animal control because it had a habit of getting out of some fences, so make sure you have a secure place to keep this dog. (Click here for some fence ideas.) I have a pure bred boxer that I found that is currently at the vet getting neutered and rabies vaccinated. He tested negative for Lyme, E.canis and Heartworms. I call him Buddy and he is wonderful. I desperately need to locate a foster home or permanent home for him as I already have two female dogs. I simply can't afford another mouth to feed. He has been very good at the vet clinic and doesn't have "accidents" in his run. He waits until walked. He appears to get along with the other dogs he has come in contact with. He was friendly with high school kids he came into contact with. He rode very well in the front of the truck and didn't get sick, pace or appear nervous at all. He is 45 lbs - need a little more weight, almost all white with some brindle spots. Please call Debra Wall in Colbert, Georgia at 706-247-1040.

5-Month Old Boxer Mix Puppy in Desperate Need... My friend’s dog, which was given to her as a going away present when her boyfriend moved to Phoenix is in desperate need of a new home. She currently works 55-70 hours per week in retail and just doesn’t have the time to give him the love and attention that he needs. After trying to work this out, she has decided she can no longer take care of him properly and wants to take him to the pound. However, with the overwhelming number of homeless animals in Atlanta area shelters, he is certain to be euthanized before he can be adopted and I cannot in good conscience let her take him there. He is a sweet dog that just needs an owner who can give him some love and attention and who has the time to spend with him. He has all of his shots and is microchipped. He’s on heartworm and flea prevention medicine. He gets along great with other dogs and pretty much ignores cats. He does need to do some sniffing and barking to get comfortable with new people, but once he does he loves to cuddle and give kisses. He is very loyal to his human companions and will tag along anywhere you go. He is about 5 months old and his name is Muka (pronounced “Mooka”). I think he’d do great in a house with school age kids. Please call Katie Fidanza on her cell phone at 404-452-8337 or email: k.fidanza@imedex.com

Puppy vaccines have been started. If you are interested in any of these puppies, you can call Liberty Animal Control in Savannah, Georgia at 912-876-9191. At the end of December we were part of a rescue operation from a breeder in Hart County, and took 6 boxers. We have one left who really needs a home. She is an American Bulldog/Boxer mix, about 3 years old, white with brown brindle spots, has been spayed, and had her rabies shot. She is a dominant female and would not do well in a home with small dogs, although she doesn't mind cats. She is a big strong girl and would be better with older children - not toddlers. She is sweet and somewhat timid, but a really nice dog. She has been at the shelter 1 month. We do not plan to euthanize her, but this is not a place for her to live. Please help us find her a good loving home. She needs to be someone's couch potato. Please call Laura Lewis in Lavonia, Georgia at 706-356-5363 or email: negas@alltel.net

I have a 3-year old female boxer that has all of her shots and is spayed. She is AKC registered and great with people and children. We need to find someone who is willing to make her a house dog and if they have a fenced in back yard they will have to have a privacey fence or six foot chain link fence -- she jumps over even a 5 foot fence! I own both of her parents. Not sure how she would be with other animals, she is great with my other dogs but always has been around them. I just want her to get a good loving home. I found this beautiful 24-month old boxer, Raleigh, which I brought back from Mexico. He had a family, but they couldn't afford to feed him, and he was very, very thin. He is very sweet. I managed to get him across the border and fly him home, but I can't keep him . He's had all his shots, has been neutered and is healthy. Just needs a home and some good food. He would do best in a home with no other dogs. Raleigh has been through two weeks of boarding/training and has a three-page report which I can make available to you. Please call Rachel Friday in Atlanta, Georgia at 404-607-9011. Note: This dog was posted once in the past, and the first home did not work out, so it has been posted again now.

Hi. I'm a gorgeous Boxer named Ali. I'm very well-behaved with people and other dogs. I'm a calm and quiet guy... even when other dogs are barking around me. I walk well on a leash and I'm very strong so I'll need a good strong leash. I would make a wonderful addition to your family, so I'm hoping to find someone with a nice big yard to play in. I'm also neutered so that makes me quite a catch! Please call to ask about me (be sure to remember my ID number 4659) and come to meet me. Let's go out for a walk and see if we're a perfect match! Please visit the Douglas County Animal Shelter in Douglasville, Georgia, or call (770) 942-5961 and ask for Colleen, Chuck or Cindy. (Mention ID #4659)

My name is Sugar and I'm a beautiful Boxer mix. I am approximately 1 year and 10 months old (at least that what my vet tells me) so I'm full grown. I weigh 36.5 lbs and I have short blonde hair with big brown eyes. I am spayed and am current on all my shots. I am heartworm negative and on Heartguard. I am an inside dog that loves the outdoors! I love to play with other dogs and humans too. I haven't lived in a home with children but when I've been around them, they seem to be a lot of fun! I would love a home that had other dogs and/or children to play with. I currently share my owner with a stuck up cat that doesn't like to play so if you have a cat, I can live with that too! Going outside to play fetch and run is my FAVORITE thing to do. Sometimes I just like to run and get out my energy but I DO NOT run away. I am house, crate and leash trained and I've had basic obedience training. I know "sit", "lay down", "stay" and "heel". I rarely bark and my mommy has never heard me growl...I'm just too sweet for all of that! However, I get excited and will bark when someone comes to the door. My mommy loves me very much but due to extreme hardship, she's having to get a second job and will not be able to give me the love and attention that she needs/wants to give me and knows I deserve! I need to find a new home as soon as possible so mommy doesn't lose everything! She's already having to lose me. Peanbutter is a great boxer puppy about 7 to 9 months old. He showed up in my Lithonia neighborhood about a month ago. He's super friendly to everyone except cats. He gets along very well with my two female dogs, but not my two cats. He just barks at them. He's extremely intelligent. He walks well on a leash, is fascinated by balls and sticks. He'll play as long as you will and then some. He loves affection also and likes to lay his head in your lap or have his tummy rubbed. If I didn't have so many pets already, I would love to keep him. However, that is not an option. Please help! He needs to be adopted ASAP! Please call Tracey Smith in Atlanta, Georgia at 770-323-8804 or on her cell at 678-458-9901.

I need to find a home for my boxer/pit bull mix Frodo. He is a great dog. My husband is in the Army and we can not longer have him where we live. Frodo will be 3 years old at the end of March. We got him as a puppy at 5 weeks old from his parents. Currently we are in Los Angeles. I will be moving to Georgia on the 27th of January. The boxer rescue here in Los Angeles does not have any room for him. I have all of his medical papers. He does not have any formal papers. His mother is full pit bull and his father is full boxer. Please call Katherine Corso in Los Angeles at 310-462-3921 if you can adopt this dog as soon as they get to Georgia.

This little guy is either a Pure Bred Boxer or a close mix, only 3 to 4 months old. He's good with our other dogs and cats, and young enough probably to get used to children. He's in the chewing stage, but listens (more or less) when told no. Since he's a boxer, we call him Max Baer. He already answers to Max. Max still needs his shots. Please call Lynnette in Savannah, Georgia at 912-965-9845 or 912-210-3924.

Here is a photo of Jake, I'm not sure how old he is, but I am pretty sure that he is an adolescent. He is housebroken, he can do the usual cute things, sit, lay down, shake...etc. He also will stay off of your furniture as long as you provide him with 'his' bed or a designated place. I will miss him, but as I travel for a living, I can't be here for him. Please call Raven in Lawrenceville, Georgia at 404-840-9876.

"If you're looking for an intelligent, mature, friendly, affectionate dog, look no more! Biff is the one for you! Biff is a healthy, good natured, older (age 10), outgoing, neutered male Dalmatian/Boxer mix. Biff is stocky and strong and Boxer enthusiasts say that he definitely has a Boxer's personality! He is a giant lap dog who is very sweet and affectionate and would make a terrific pet for a family with kids who are old enough to treat a senior dog gently. He gets along well with other dogs, and will even put up with cats without attacking them, though they aren't his favorite playmates! Biff would also make a great companion for an older person who is able to take him for walks. Once a new person establishes who is in control, Biff settles right down and is quite happy to let them be the boss! He will "heel", "run", "sit" and "stay" beautifully. He will even "look both ways" before crossing the street! (Whether or not he knows that he is looking for oncoming cars is debatable! However, he does turn his head left, then right, and back to the left again when standing on a curb if you tell him to "look both ways" -- it is really cute!) Biff's lifelong family loves him very much, but due to extreme hardship, they have had to move to places where they cannot have a dog. They must find a new home for him within a week or they will be forced to surrender him to animal control where he will probably be euthanized! Please don't let this happen to such a sweet boy who deserves so much more! Please call Helen Atkins in Marietta, Georgia at 770-977-5307.

Cody is a 3-year-old, male, fawn-and-white Pure Bred boxer who was severely abused before he was rescued and brought to us. He was locked in a closet, beaten in the head with an iron pipe, and was going to be shot in the morning if someone had not intervened and called us. DESPITE ALL OF THE ABUSE, CODY HAS A WONDERFUL TEMPERAMENT!!! Cody is a rambunctious and playful but sweet, loyal, gentle with children, and a big snuggler. WE ARE VERY PROTECTIVE OF CODY AND WANT THE VERY BEST HOME FOR HIM!! He deserves a lot of love and attention. He gets along well with female dogs but not with males. He can be a little headstrong but is a precious dog who needs to be spoiled rotten and cherished forever! Please visit Fathers House International - Animal Rescue Division in Westminster, South Carolina, or call Sunshine at 864-647-5100.

Hi there, my name is Buffy and I am a sweet female Boxer Retriever Mix that has had a rough start on life. The nice people at Homeless Pets Rescue Foundation saved me when I was found with a large gash in my side. I am all healed now and I am looking for a home QUICK! I have been in rescue for about a year and of that year I have only lived in a foster home for 3 weeks. Although my foster mom says that I am a very sweet good girl I am beginning to lose hope because living at this scary vet clinic can really bring a girl down. I do not play well with other dogs or small children so I would prefer to be the only fur baby in your life. It’s hard to learn to love everyone when you live in a small cage with no soft bed or yard to play in. I also come with a life time of free training from Barkbusters in Georgia and they will come to my new home and train me and you so that we can have a life time of fun together. If you do not live in Georgia we could work something out with a trainer in your area. Please come get me quick so that we can start to love each other. I really need some love from a special person. I am in Marietta, Georgia and I live at Town and Country Vet. You can contact my rescue sponsor Beth on her cell at 404-545-2697 or work at 770-437-0213 or email: Beth@Georgiawire.com

GREAT RUNNING partner who will not only keep pace with you, but he is the PERFECT female’s running mate since he will be your protector and guard AND your best friend!!Sox is an ADORABLE, very affectionate 3-year old boxer mix boy who thinks he's a human! This boy loves to play with humans and his ball, which he can play with for hours on end! This loveable boy was abandoned at our vet's office for over two months and taken into rescue because the alternative was the pound where he probably would have met death! Sox deserves so much more than he’s been given! Sox is neutered, current on all his shots, and on heartworm prevention. IF you can provide this wonderfully deserving SWEET boy a permanent or foster home, please contact Julane in Atlanta, Georgia at 404-290-8261 or email: julanec@mindspring.com

Tike is SOOO sweet with people. He loves to give you his paw and lean on you. He would not be reccomended in a household with other dogs or cats. He's very handsome and unique. Please visit McDowell County Animal Control in Marion, North Carolina or call 828-652-6643 before 3 p.m. -- keep trying if busy! Georgia is a gorgeous, flashy fawn, female Boxer. She was born in November of 2001 (about 3 years old). She has been spayed. She LOVES people and attention. She loves to run and play and EAT at the farm. She would do best as an only dog or with an non-aggressive dog. Georgia has had 2 successful knee surgeries in the Spring of 2004. She is taking glucosamine for matinence and prevention of arthritis. Georgia is a very healthy dog. She is current on all of her shots and has been heartworm tested and taking the preventative heartworm pill. I think it will have to be a very special family to adopt Georgia. We love her so much and want to make sure she is placed in a wonderful, loving home who will spoil her. Contact Betty in Dawsonville, Georgia at 706-579-2200 or on her cell 404-786-1530.

This is probably the most difficult decision I have had to make. Due to the ending of an 18 year relationship and needing to move into a much smaller space I have realized, in the best interest of Lucy (my brindle boxer) that she needs more space. She is approximately 4 years old has the sweetest disposition and loves to cuddle. She has lived with a German shepherd, another boxer and two cats for the past few years and gotten along wonderfully with them (even sleeping with the cats and other dogs. She weighs about 65 lbs. Lucy is clearly trying to adjust to her new space, however, it's clear to me that she would be much happier in another larger space. She is trained and does listen. She has been mostly an indoor dog though loves to play and run outside. She enjoyed being outside more than the other animals. She is leash trained - though she will stay with me without a leash (as demonstrated when we go hiking). Her ideal next home would include lots of love, some room to run and maybe even some other animals, though I do think she would be a wonderful only pet as well. Please call Monica Dutke in the Atlanta area at 770-337-6631.

I have an 11 week old pure bred fawn/white male boxer that I need to find a good home for. He has some health issues that I did not expect for him to have. Unfortunately I can't afford the medications and doctor visits. The vet is concerned about his eyes and him being unbalanced. He can see but his vision may be blurry with seeing things up close. He's not balanced because often he stumbles and loses his balance. I really want to find a home that will take care of all his needs. My information is as follows: Victor Nyborg in Lithonia, Georgia. Home: 678-518-7208; Cell: 678-431-5003
